Iran torches Syria, moves to Quarterfinals

Iran led by as much as 41 points, cruising to an 82-63 win over helpless Syria to top Group B and advance to the Quarterfinals.

Matin Aghajanpour hit 6 three pointers to finish with a game-high 24 points for Iran. Mohammad Sina Vahedi added 19, hitting 5-of-10 from the field and 9-of-10 from the freethrow line.

Syria, who has been eliminated, was paced by Keron DeShields' 16 points.

South Korea beats Lebanon

South Korea shot the light out from beyond the arc, hitting 22 three-pointer in 38 attempts (57.8%) to post a 97-86 win over Lebanon.

Hyunjung Leee (7-of-13 3PT) and Kisang Yu (8-of-12 3PT) both finished with 28 points to lead South Korea.

Omar Jamaleddine led Lebanon with 15 points.

Yudai Nishida (16), Yuki Togashi (12), Yudai Baba (10) and Akira Jacobs (10) all finished in double figures for Japan.

Earnest Ross led Guam with 17points and 6 rebounds.

Both teams advance to the next round.

Australia outscored Qatar 31-20 and 33-19 in the 3rd and 4th quarters respectively to win pulling away, 110-82.

Jaylin Galloway topscored for the Aussies with 24 pts. William Hickey added 15 with 5 rebounds and 8 assists. Reyne Smith also scored 15.

Brandon Datrelle Goodwin paced Qatar with 24 points, 7 rebounds and 5 assists.

The win sealed Australia a Quarterfinals spot.

New Zealand routs Chinese Taipei to sweep Group D

Flynn Cameron had 28 points, 9 rebounds and 8 assists as New Zealand sailed past Chinese Taipei to sweep Group D and advance to the Quarterfinals.

Mojave Jackson King added 28 points and 8 rebounds, while Taylor Britt and Ben Gold added 14 points apiece for the Tall Blacks.

The Hinton brothers, Robert Tsang and Adam Tsang, had 24 and 16 points respectively to lead Chinese Taipei.

Saudi Arabia outscored India 21-6 in the 2nd quarter to pull away from a tight game and never looked back, scoring an 84-59 win over India.

The win moved them to 2nd in Group C and advance to the next round, where they will face the Philippines.

Mohammed Alsuwailem led Saudi Arabia with a 15-point 14-rebound double double. Four others scored in double figures in a balance attack.

Palpreet Singh Brar, who finished with a game-high 20 points, was the lone bright spot for India.

Shuaipeng Cheng of China scored 20 points, making 5 of his ten three-point attempts to lead China past Jordan 90-68.

The win clinches Group C's top spot and a Quarterfinals berth.

Dar Tucker led Jordan with 27 points.

Philippines beats Iraq for 1st win, avoids elimination

Dwight Ramos erupted for 10 of his 21 points in the 3rd quarter as the Philippines broke away from a close game and kept Iraq at bay the rest of the way to win 66-57.

It was the first win for the Philippines to advance to the next round, where they will face either Jordan or Saudi Arabia.

Iraq, who is now eliminated, was led by Ali Ismael with 13 points.

Jericho Cruz and Tai Wesley scored 21 points apiece as Guam scored the country's first ever FIBA Asia Cup win, beating Syria 82-73. Wesley also had 9 boards and 8 assists.

Earnest Ross contributed 17 points and 8 assists while Takumi Simon had 15 and 6 rebounds for Guam.

Keron DeShields was the lone bright spot for Syria, finishing with 29 points, 8 rebounds and 6assists.

Down 67-70 with just under 4 minutes left, Iran scored the last 11 points of the game to score a 78-70 win over Japan and first place in Group B.

Mohammadmani Amini had 24 points and 8 rebounds and Mohammad Sina Vahedi 22 and 5 to lead Iran.

Japan, who lead for most of the game, was led by Keisei Tominaga's 22 points and Josh Hawkinson, who had 20 points and 17 rebounds.
