The MPBL has meted a lifetime ban on Gensan Warriors player Michole Sorela

Upon review of the footage of the incident from last night's game (August 11) between the Mindoro Tamaraws and the GenSan Warriors, the MPBL has meted a lifetime ban on GenSan player Michole Sorela.

A ₱200,000 fine has also been slapped on Sorela for the punch that left Mindoro's Jonas Tibayan with a broken jaw and concussion.

"We condemn the incident and the MPBL won't tolerate such actions", said MPBL commissioner Kenneth duremdes in handing out stiff sanctions. "It compromises the player's safety and taint the league's image".

Mindoro topples GenSan

The Mindoro Tamaraws (13-10) scored a tight 76-72 win over the GenSan Warriors (13-9) to move just half a game behind them for sixth place in the South Division. The Top 6 at the end of the Regular Season automatically qualifies for a playoffs spot.

Bambam Gamalinda scored 21 points and hauled down 7 boards to pace the Tamaraws. Wendel Comboy (16 and 5) and Joseph Sedurifa (12 and 7) also had good games for the Tamaraws.

Kyle Dominic Tolentino had a double-double (21 points and 10 rebounds) to lead the Warriors.

Sarangani stuns Muntinlupa

Krystoffe Jimenez had 18 points, 8 rebounds, 4assists and 3 steals, leading the Sarangani Gripper Motorcycle Tire to a 72-68 win over Muntinlupa Cagers Lakan. Larce Christian Sunga added 14 points and a game-high 13 boards as Sarangani improved to 9-13, tying idle Imus for the last playin spot. Muntinlupa Cagers Lakan, which dropped t0 10-12, was led by Domark Matillano's 16 points and 7 rebounds.

MPBLThe MPBL has decided to postpone the games scheduled for today, July 21, 2025 at the Batangas City Coliseum due to the heavy rains affecting Batangas City and nearby areas.

The health and safety of the teams, working staff, and fans are of utmost importance to the league.

The new date of the postponed games will be announced in due course.

Axel Iñigo hit 8 of his 12 three point attempts to lead the Mindoro Tamaraws past Manila Batang Quiapo 95-56. Iñigo finished with a total of 28 points and added 5 rebunds and 5 assists as the Tamaraws improved to 6-7.

Manila, who suffered their 11th straight defeat, was lead by 13 points from John  Ashley Faa.
