New Zealand pulls away from Iraq to win by 22

New Zealand outscored Iraq 37-17 in the 4th quarter to pull away from a close game as New Zealand opened their FIBA Asia Cup campaign with a 100-78 win over Iraq.

Taylor Britt had 21 points, 6 rebounds and 6 assists to lead New Zealand. Mojave Jackson King (18 points), Tohi Smith-Milner (13) and Carlin Davison (12) all scored in double figures for the Tall Blacks.

Diar Ahmed Abdul Allah Abdul Allah led Iraq with 19 points.

New Zealand routs Chinese Taipei to sweep Group D

Flynn Cameron had 28 points, 9 rebounds and 8 assists as New Zealand sailed past Chinese Taipei to sweep Group D and advance to the Quarterfinals.

Mojave Jackson King added 28 points and 8 rebounds, while Taylor Britt and Ben Gold added 14 points apiece for the Tall Blacks.

The Hinton brothers, Robert Tsang and Adam Tsang, had 24 and 16 points respectively to lead Chinese Taipei.

Philippines beats Iraq for 1st win, avoids elimination

Dwight Ramos erupted for 10 of his 21 points in the 3rd quarter as the Philippines broke away from a close game and kept Iraq at bay the rest of the way to win 66-57.

It was the first win for the Philippines to advance to the next round, where they will face either Jordan or Saudi Arabia.

Iraq, who is now eliminated, was led by Ali Ismael with 13 points.

New Zealand subdues Philippines 94-86

Jordan Ngatai scored 22 points and Taylor Britt added 19 with 8 assists as New Zealand helds off a gritty fight back from the Philippines to score a 94-86 win.

It was the 2nd straight win for New Zealand, tying Chinese Taipei on top of Group D. The Philippines meanwhile, dropped to 0-2 and will need to beat Iraq in their final Preliminary Round game to avoid elimination.

Justin Brownlee led the Philippines with 37 points, hitting 7 three-pointers. Dwight Ramos added 19.

Chinese Taipei beats Iraq by 27

Lin Ting-chien scored 22 points, Mohammad Gadiaga 13 and Adam Tsang Hinton 11 as Chinese Taipei led from start to finish in an 87-60 win over Iraq.

The win moves Chinese Taipei to 2-0, while Iraq dropped to 0-2.
